The design by Prada on America’s Cup that began on drawing board almost twenty-two years ago in an office close to II Duomo in Milan is going to take another step forward.
A yacht design threw out a challenge at Patrizio Bertelli to do the America Cup as they talked about creating a new yacht for the chief executive of Prada. Albeit, Luna Rossa of Bertelli hasn’t lifted the most coveted trophy of sailing. The influence of ithas been keenly felt in the next decades, on, as well off the water. With Prada Cup’s launch is going to stamp the mark on the history of the 1st cup that had been won by schooner America off England in the year 1851.
The new trophy by Prada is going to be awarded to the sailors who will win the right to challenge the defender of the cup, New Zealand in a series of races to take place in Auckland in 2021. This is an event that had been sponsored by Louis Vuitton, the rival French fashion house.
Bertelli is known to have made it clear beyond global branding his intention to win the 36th America’s Cup with a support from Pirelli the co-sponsor for the Luna Rossa team who was led by skipper and director Max Sirena. The primary event that is now backed by Prada is going to be between radical mono hulls that will fly above the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf in the waters of Auckland.
Prada is known to have been busy undertaking designer Marc Newson in order to give America’s Cup competition a modern visual identity. In the meantime, Team New Zealand’s Luna Rossa, American Magic, and Ben Ainslie’s INEOS Team formed by the group that includes New York Yacht Club to design the 75foot high-end machines but it cannot be launched at the end of March 2019.
